The Reason this Democratic Party Refuses to Release its 2024 Election Autopsy: The Inside Story.

This move by the DNC to suppress the publication regarding its internal post-election analysis on the 2024 election seems shocking however entirely predictable. Averse to unpleasant candor, the DNC often functions closer to a publicity machine rather than a political organization focused on cultivating a volunteer base for winning elections.

A Culture That Avoids Dissent

Unwilling to challenge the prevailing attitude demanding unity, the DNC has remained under the Biden-Harris shadow throughout 2025. Making public the findings might have shown whether party leaders truly desire to foster public discourse about the missteps that paved the way for Donald Trump to win re-election. However, the DNC is proceeding under the pretense that there is little to be learned from the tragic debacle from the last cycle.

Our guiding principle: is this good for winning elections? Should the answer be negative, it’s a distraction from what truly matters," a justification reportedly given to justify concealing the analysis.

Key Issues an Analysis Could Have Explored

Any valuable post-mortem worth its salt would not dodge key points of failure. These include:

  • Voter Alienation: Losing among millions of voters who supported the party's candidate during the previous election became a critical factor during the tight 2024 election.
  • A Decision to Run: The stubborn decision of a party leader to stay in the race, and a very late step-aside, is viewed as robbing the party's base of open primaries.
  • Abandoning Core Democratic Voters: While facing economic anxiety, the campaign is criticized for accommodating powerful financial backers and not managing to address the effects of big business.
  • A Foreign Policy Factor: The failure to adjust a stance on a ongoing war reportedly led to alienating significant blocs, particularly among young people, Arab American communities, Muslim voters.
  • A Decline in Youth Support: Extensive evidence indicates a huge drop-off in votes for the candidate from voters aged 18-29.

A History Shunning Scrutiny

Choosing secrecy is consistent with a pattern to avoid difficult realities. It recalls a dynamic in which virtually every Democratic officeholder in Congress went along with an incumbent's decision for running for re-election right up until a poor public debate performance forced an exit.

Meanwhile, overwhelming numbers within the party's base were repeatedly informing pollsters of their opposition to that candidate to be the nominee.

Campaign Spending Concerns

An honest autopsy would also examine issues regarding financial allocations, such as what sums went to insider consultants and ad buyers over the course of a campaign which expended an enormous amount during the general election.

A Broader Problem

Ultimately, the blockage of the official autopsy is symptomatic of a submission toward the established hierarchy that oversaw a losing presidential campaign. The signal to rank-and-file members – including countless dedicated activists – is that they cannot be trusted to know the lessons the leadership have learned based on an analysis drawing from conversations with insiders.

A party unable to honestly assess its own failings finds it difficult to escape the pattern which was so beneficial to the rival party.
